Professional Training for Teachers
University of Bath's
Education Programmes
The Bath's Study Centre in Shanghai provides an excellent platform
for teachers to fulfill their learning aspirations, no matter where
they are.
The University of
Bath is officially recognised as one of the UK's
leading universities. In the annual university league tables in 2007,
the University was ranked top ten by The Daily Telegraph, The
Sunday Times and The Guardian. Its
Department of Education was rated by
The Times' "Good University Guide" as "excellent" in areas
of education and teacher training. It also has strong links with
the International
Baccalaureate Organization's Research Unit (IBRU), which is based
within the department.
Yew Wah has entered into collaboration with
the University of Bath to act as the University's Study Centre
in Shanghai for courses leading to the award of qualifications
including the degree of MA in Education. There are three main MA
programmes: MA
in Education, MA
in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and MA
in Coach Education and Sports Development, newly
introduced in September 2008. The Level 1 and Level 2 International
Baccalaureate Teacher Awards can also be gained through these
MA in Education programmes.
Courses are delivered at Yew Wah in Shanghai
by visiting tutors from Bath, and are open to all qualified teachers
and school administrators. Official awards will be obtained from
the University of Bath upon completion of the programmes through
our Study Centre, and are same as those earned in the UK. All programmes
comprise taught units and a dissertation and have a total credit
value of 90 points. There are two intermediate exit points. A Postgraduate
Certificate can be awarded at 30 credits, and a Postgraduate Diploma
at 60 credits. The programmes are very flexible and can be studied
in a range of different ways, even in different locations.
