IGCSE (International Senior High)
The Yew Wah International Education Schools of Yantai (YWIES-YT)
and Shanghai (YWIES-SH) offer a four-year Overseas University Preparation Programme (OUPP)
which is divided into two stages: a two-year International Senior
High (Pre-A Level or International General Certificate of Secondary
Education, IGCSE) and a two-year University Preparation (A Level).
The Programme is operated on the basis of the IGCSE curriculum
of the Cambridge International Examinations Board, in which English
is the major language of instruction. IGCSE equals to the first
and second year of Senior Secondary in Chinese schools. The successful
completion of the IGCSE Programme and exams lead to the acquisition
of the internationally recognised IGCSE Certificate which facilitates
students' pursuit of A Level in Yew Wah or other Matriculation
programmes such as the International Baccalaureate (IB).
In the November 2008 A Level exam, two students from YWIES-SH obtained the “Top in the World” award for AS Level Mathematics, and one of them also got the “Top in China” for A Level Chinese. In the same year, 21 students took 68 A/AS Level exams. Totally 14 (or 21%) A* or A’s were received which is a very outstanding result.
