Founders’ Message

Entering the second decade of the 21st century, the pace of globalisation is accelerating, and the plight facing humans is deepening—economic crisis, political upheavals, regional conflicts, ecological deterioration, etc. The plight highlights the survival and developmental problems of human beings which need to be resolved with great wisdom, high tolerance and new technology.

Wisdom, tolerance and technology are obtained mainly through learning. Committed to promoting the integration of the Eastern and Western cultures, Yew Wah International Education Foundation believes that we can adopt and enhance the best elements in the two cultures. In fact, the Eastern and Western cultures share similar views. For example, the thoughts of “loving others”, “no attack” and “thrift” advocated by Mozism, one of the most popular philosophies during the Hundred Schools of Thought period, are similar to the idea of charity of Christianity, pacifism of the West, and the environmental awareness promoted worldwide in recent years. In addition, there are points of reference for the modern world in the science/technology and the practice of theories of Mozism. It is worth advocating these long-neglected elements.

China is the world’s second largest economy and most populous country. Apart from promoting the well-being of its citizens, China is also obliged to contribute to solving worldwide issues. Based in China, Yew Wah endeavours to nurture our students to be global citizens who concern themselves with global governance, helping fufil the international responsibilities of China and contributing to world peace and the world’s civilisation.
